  1. Any long RCA cable will work.  Just make sure the RCA plugs fit snug. For some reason - subwoofers like tight fitting RCA plugs.

But - subwoofer placement is more important than the cable.

A good place to locate the sub is to find the corner of the 2 longest, un-broken walls.  Start by placing the sub 2/5 or 1/3 along the longest wall from the corner.  Somewhere near this spot is the usually the best place.

You need to do this before you know how long of a subwoofer cable to get.

You can get a 25 ft run of CATV coax with "F" connectors and 2 "F-to-RCA-Male" adaptors from Radio Shack.  Use this for an el-cheepo cable while you try different locations for the sub. Then once you find a good spot, measure and get a cable.

You CAN use the CATV coax cable, but this wire has a stiff outer jacket, does not lie flat and is quite ugly.  So just use it for finding the right position.

    ALTERNATE TECHNIQUE:

Move your primary seat out of the way. Put the sub where you normally sit.  Disconnect all the other speakers and fire up a bass-heavy scene.

Listen near the corners and along the wall. You should hear spots where the bass is loud/boomy, and other areas where it is smooth and tight.  Mark the smooth spots with a post-it or a bottle of beer.

When you have 2-3 spots located, put the sub in the first spot, hook up the other speakers and listen. Enjoy the beer.  Try the second spot if the first does not work out.

  2. The best RCA cable you can get.  Can meaning how much you want to spend.

I personally use a cable that is meant for a digital coax connection which uses RCA connectors.

This is not a super critical connection.  It should be good, but remember a subwoofer really isn't about finesse.  Don't sweat this too much.

  3. All you REALLY NEED is a long RCA Audio Cable....it doesn't have to be MONSTER cable because all it has to do is DELIVER LOW FREQUENCY.....

And MONSTER emphasizes saving only the HIGH frequencies and that's where the money goes.....
