Question:

New Tennis Racquet-- Head vs. Prince

I'm a high school tennis player (junior) looking to get a new, higher level racquet. I'm rated somewhere around a 3.5 or 4 on the NTRP and my swing speed is right around medium (S1 or S2).

I have my search narrowed down to two racquets-- the Prince OZONE Four ($170) or the Head LiquidMetal 4 ($90). The ozone four is newer I believe, that could explain the price difference. Price difference aside though, any recommendations on which racquet would better suit me?

  1. head of course..the brand of racket always used by professionals are always great providers of good rackets..hope u get my point

  2. Prince (O3). I've been using Prince eversince I started playing. It's a good racquet.

  3. I'd definatly go with the Liquidmetal 4. The Ozone is a power racquet for shorter swings and as a result you'd have to either change your swing or game alltogether.

The Liquidmetal 4 just seems to hit good with everyone I've ever seen play with it. It is a great racquet and prob the best in the entire liquidmetal series.

However, if you are willing to spend $170 then I think going an extra thirty for a Prince O3 Speedport Red would actually be best. That is the perfect racquet for a player like you. I used to play with this racquet and I went undefeated in single's play. I however have switched to a Speedport Platinum (I've switched to a power player)

    Best of luck =]

  4. i wud say don't get either of them. the ozone 4 is an oversize racket and that is usually for beginner to intermediate players. i made the mistake of getting an expensive oversize racket and then realized in a couple of months that i did not need it and had to go out and buy another expensive midplus racket. wat u shud do is look for a oversize racket that costs as much as the liquidmetal 4 or look for a midplus that costs as much as the ozone 4. the prince O3 blue (not speedport) wud be my recommendation if u can find it

  5. head prestige is the best higher level racket for exsprienced players

  6. Purchase a racquet that has been discontinued - the price will be cut in half.  Only problem is if you REALLY like it you might not be able to find it again.  Still it is the best way to purchase a good new racquet for a good price (buy 2 racquets if you can).  Both Head and Prince  make good equipment - I like Prince better. Costco sells a Prince racquet for $50 - pretty good deal.
