  1. There's a passage in Hebrews 9:9 which talks about the old covenant and the need for sacrifices and that the 'sacrifice' of the new covenant was Jesus' death and blood.

He says those sacrifices of old are no longer necessary.

  2. There are several references in the OT:

    Genesis 9:4

But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

    Leviticus 7:25-27

26Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings.

27Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

    Deuteronomy 12:16

Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.

    Deuteronomy 12:23

Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

    Deuteronomy 15:23

Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.

  3. Acts 15,

and it is referring to animal sacrifices, and things that are

offered to God,  Jesus is our Lamb

  4. The Bible does say – and I almost never hear Ministers talk about it, Acts chapter 15, it says that they were to abstain from blood.  And a lot of the meat that is sold, most of the meat that is sold in the markets today, still has blood just dripping out of it and that’s why it looks so red and you can even see it running in the little styrofoam container there.

Now The reason for that – this is not a ceremonial law.  This is a very plain health law; the same kind of health law if you touched something dead you were to wash.  Well, God knows that you cannot transfer disease from plant to animal; in other words, if a plant catches a cold, I don’t get the cold from a plant.  But animals transfer disease between species.  That’s why when they go to the zoos now they’re putting up glass booths to separate people from the gorillas because they bring these gorillas over and they catch colds from the spectators and die.

Animals can transfer disease to animal.  If you devour cancerous or unhealthy blood from even a clean animal, you can get those cells in your system; and matter of fact, leukemia and lot of these diseases, can be traced to certain dairy products and animal products.  Matter of fact, the very first thing that most doctors will tell you that contribute to heart disease are animal products.  You cannot get cholesterol from peanuts and coconut oil.

And so, God knew what He was talking about when He said we should not eat the fat and we should not eat the blood.  And here it is – Acts chapter 15 verse 20, ‘…but write unto them [and this is even specifically directed to Gentiles] that they abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled…’ Now do you know why it says from things strangled?

When they butchered animals back then there was a couple of ways:  sometimes they’d strangle them and they’d kill them with the blood in the meat; but Biblically, they were to cut their throats and hang them upside down and drain the blood.

Things that were strangled still had the blood in them.

  5. Acts 15:29 & Acts 21:25

  6. The book of Acts, the church leaders in Jerusalem wrote a letter to believers saying to abstain from blood, sexual immorality, and eating meat sacrificed to idols.

  7. The laws in leviticus but that's in the old testament.
