  1. i think you should go with a mini-mal or a funboard because they are boyant enough for you and would help with the switch from bodyboarding to surfing. go to a surfshop and the guys there will get you the right board. and if you want to do more hard manouvers, i would get one of those thick, boyant fish with the quads.

  2. Your only chance is a long board or losing weight

  3. Don't surf don't try it. Stay out of the line up.

  4. Junior, I already mentioned that i think that a fun-board/mini-mal on a thick enough blank is a great transition board for you. And again, I really think that as time goes on, a 'big guy' performance board or nice fat fish are what you will be looking for.

My son-in-law at around 230 rides a nice fat 6'8" Davo quad fish. I ride a 7'8" custom made Allison twin fin fish. But I suggest getting a board that let's you maneuver around a little, and gives you a chance to hone those skills first, unless you don't think they you will be able to afford another board later on.

Oh, and don't mind Justin G, he is just being a cranky teen, he will get over it, and understand what surfing is really about when he grows up. I guess school starts Tuesday, i was always kind of cranky around labor day when I was 14 myself.
