New US Grand Prix track construction in Austin ahead of schedule – Formula 1 news
Organisers of the US Grand Prix have said that the construction work for the new Formula 1 track in Austin is going ahead of schedule and will be completed before its deadline of June 2012.
According to a new footage released by the organisers, heavy machinery was seen at the site and it seemed that the construction area is ready for the building work to begin.
Other than that, the public relations office of the company responsible for the construction of the track has also revealed that all of its employees are working efficiently as they have met their goals so far.
“Right now as it stands, all of our construction milestones are on track. It's an aggressive schedule. We are planning on a June 2012 opening day. It [the timeframe] is not unusual; a lot of other tracks like this have been built in the same amount of time,”
spokesman Jeff Hahn told the media.
The new circuit designed by Hermann Tilke is expected to contain a number of classic race track corners with several elevation changes to test each driver’s driving skills at its best.
“The neat part about the construction site right now is that you can actually see the contours of where the race track is going to be. The difficult story to tell about the site is the scale of this project. The track itself is 3.4 miles from a loop standpoint,
but the property and how it fills up that space is just astonishing,” said Hahn.
Bernie Ecclestone believed that the track would be ready for the 2012 Formula 1 season when this idea was initiated by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and it seems that his expectations have been fulfilled so far.
The new US Grand Prix venue in Austin will not just host a Formula 1 race but will also have additional attractions for the visitors like festivals and other recreational activities.
