I decided i wanted to be a vegitarian......though my family does not support it and constintly make hamburger and other Non-vegitarian/fruitarian dishes. I just wanted to know what I can and cant eat and drink. Is it ok to drink homemade tea with sugar in it. Its not green tea but I have drank it very long and I like it very much. Also what are some other drinks i could get to drink. And also foods that are all natural. And is SoyBeans the best source of protien. I know I cant drink milk. Also tell me some things i can eat at a chinese resturant. And is it true pizza has meat in the sauce? Plz help. Thank-you.

  1. I don't think pizza has meat in the sauce, unless some restaurants make it that way.

Here's some stuff on Chinese vegetarian foods and other vegetarian stuff. It's got the link and a small description below.

  2. Ok... If you want to win your family over. Do not tell them you're trying to be a Vegetarian or a Vegan. Simply tell them you're trying to eat healthier... Anyone can respect that. Sweet tea should be fine but honestly Green Tea is sooo d**n good for you there's no reason not to drink it. If you can I would also replace sugar with Stevia. Sugar isn't "un-Vegetarian" however it's generally not very good for you and if you're going to be a Vegetarian you'll get plenty of the good kind of sugars from fruit. In my experience the best way too get protein as a Vegetarian is from nut's! Especially raw almonds. Some Vegetarians / Vegans take a multivitamin however if it makes you uncomfortable you can get all of the essential nutrients you need from Veg-safe foods.

As for Chinese food I don't really eat it anymore. Once I tired Thai food I never went back to Chinese food. Food for thought... Literally!!!

  3. Are you a vegan, or a vegetarian?

  4. heyy, just thought i'd tell you that if you don't drink milk and other dairy stuff or eggs, then your not just a vegetarian, your a vegan.  good on you :)

but if you just planned on being vegetarian then you can still eat the dairy and eggs

  5. If you want to know what Vegetarian can eat, you can pop over to my blog and get some ideas

    http://crystalbyblog.blogspot.com/

If you are eating egg and dairy, there are even more choices. These are the stuff I seldom eat.

Soy is the best source of plant protein, some stuff from soybeans is yuba (beancurd skin), tofu, soymilk, soy bean sprout. Vegetables - winged beans, bean sprou, red-streaked beans,  ... Dal & lentils are good in proteins ...  red bean, mung bean ...

Chinese Resturant, request for vegetarian version :-

fried rice with egg if you eat egg, if not veg fried rice

    egg drop soup,

cream of corn soup (tell them no stock from animal sauces),

    veggie clear soup,

stir-fry assoted veggies (no oyster sauce, use vegetarian oyster sauce/mushroom sauce),

    deep-fried veggie spring roll,

    fried veggie noodles,

veggie soupy noodle (no animal stock),

tofu dishes without meat - steamed tofu, Claypot tofu, braised tofu,

steamed egg (if you eat egg),

dessert like red bean soup etc ...

many more, i might have missed out.

  6. Well Im some what of a vegitation I only eat chicken and fish, and I eat like turkey burgers and things like that alot of veggies, whole eggs, whear bread, and soy milk, and you can still eat chinese , just wacth what you eat, and some pizza sauces do have meat in them I dont go out much mostly I cook 4 myself because im not sure what the restaurants put in there food and things so Ur going to have to start cooking for yourself alot and stay true to yourself to this

    Good Luck

  7. Honey you decide what to or not to eat, there are different types of vegetaniarism ( I do not know if tha is an actual word or I just made it up) in the long run no one can tell you what to eat.  there are great tasting  vegetarian "meats' so you can make that for yourself when your family is having meat, that way you don't feel left out.

  8. Ok I would be really careful about your new decision.  You need to make sure you get a good amount of everything you need.  We are suppose to be omnivores.  That aside you probably can't eat at a chinese restaurant at all.  They put oyster sauce and things like that in their food all the time.  I've worked at a chinese restaurant and I'm Chinese.  Also you'll have to check what kind of oil people use in cooking.  Pizza uses meat sauce sometimes it depends.  You can drink milk if you are a vegetarian but not a vegan.  Remember vegitarian is no animals.  Vegan is no animal byproducts or anything.  I am sorry but I kinda support your family in not supporting you, to be a vegetarian is your choice and you can ask them if next time they go grocery shopping if you can go along and pick out foods for you.  But I feel you should cook them.  To change their style of living is wrong.   It is also expensive.  Tofu, is good for protein but having too much is bad for your memory (I think I read a study on that but double check).  Basically if you choose to live a life of a vegetarian then you will be really narrowing what kind of food you can eat.  If you are a vegan you will be needing a lot of money to even eat healthy.  Eating only organic is also pricey.  If you are doing this to lose weight it wont necessarily work.  I know a lot of pudgy vegetarians.  If you are doing this for the betterment of animals then perhaps you could eat meat but not eat meat from fish that are in danger of being over fished.  Monterey Bay has a list of those fish.  But whatever your decision just make sure you eat healthy.

  9. being a vegetarian in not eating things that have been living, so any type of meat, some vege's eat fish...who knows?

green tea hasn't been killed so yeah that's fine

at chinese's eat all the bean sprouts noodles etc

no meat in the sauce, just ask people giving you the pizza if it has meat in and everthing you buy should have a V which means it is suitable for vege'd good luck

  10. uh you can drink milk . vegans are the ones that don't drink milk or eat any animal based products.

uh when we go to a chines restaurant i usually get Vegetable lo-main. and no about the pizza sauce. it's tomato sauce

oh, and get some black bean burgers for cooking. a little cheese and tomatoes and onions. it tastes so good trust me .:]

i've been a vegitairan since last june

    oh and take vitamins,
