Hi im looking for an expert answer,

I got a new plasma tv however it only fits with the rear facing a double glazed window, i try to shut the curtains when the sun is strong however it has been exposed a few times, The circuit boards are exposed to the sun through holes at the rear of the tv, will this damage a plasma tv?

Im thinking uv light may play a role

  1. the front of the screen matters more, as there is layers of film that become reactive to sunlight. but even the back will effect it abit so you have to try and not let the sunlight heat get it warm, if its a cold day and sunlight goes on it then its ok, but it can not be a strong sunlight temp, it limits the life of the screen, thats the damage it does,.

  2. I also have a viera plasma and with the heat that the tv itself generates i wouldnt think the sun could make it any hotter than  it normally gets even if it did im quite sure panasonic would have some sort of built in protection against overheating as some people build the tv into the wall and that would restrict airflow and cause more harm than the sun.
