New Washing Machine Recomendations?

Can any one recommend a new washing machine for me ?

looking for reliability / energy efficiency / standard free standing UK front loading type.

Miele, the best by far. They wash cleaner, quicker and quieter than the Ariston, Hotpoint, Hoover or Indesit that we had in the past.

They're currently give a free 5 & 10 year guarantee on certain models.

Have personally always had Hotpoint, reliable, energy efficient and depending on the model, not too expensive either.

My policy is to buy mid range from a reputable manufacturer.

That way I don't pay for features I'll never bother to learn about, and get build quality that will make it last.   The cheapest machines just may be too cheap to last.

Personally I find the Bosch fridges and washers just seem that bit more robust.  a Bosch can offer a wash cycle that reduces the requirement for detergent to silly levels yet offers a good range of spin, temperature  and water usage.

BTW  I use Soda crystals to reduce my detergent usage.  The clothes can now even be washed on a lower temperature.  Despite teenage boys they still get cleaner.

I have had a HOTPOINT WT640 had it 4 months and its brilliant. So many machines, I always had Hoover and the last one was useless.

Miele,expensive but will last years longer than any other & some of the parts have a 10year guarantee.So much cheaper in the long term.

so many to choose from ,  why not ask some neighbours and friends what they have.  you should consider first a simple machine as more technology can cause problems . energy efficiency , then warranty then model ie hotpoint versus some model you have never heard of . then look at cost of purchase over say 2 years and break it down ,does a £159 unit offer value against a £299 unit . sometimes you may pay for a brand and its perceived value .

Last year we bought a Hotpoint Ultima 7kg 160 rpm spin speed front loader.  The high spin speed is fantastic, cuts tumble drying time considerably and line drying time.  I was unsure at first about the low level of water used in the newer machines but have found it to wash excellently.  I use Ariel powder for all washes above 40 degrees for whites and liquid for colours and lower temperature washes.  It is also quiet compared with our old machine.  As to durability that has to be tested as we have not had it that long.  I have had Hotpoint in the past and been satisfied.  It has a 5 yrs parts guarantee so you would only have to pay the call out charge.  Bear in mind that Hotpoint, Creda and some others (that I can't think of) are all made by the same manufacturer.  Even if you buy a top of the range Meile or something there will still reach a time when it will be uneconomic to repair.  Hope you reach a decision that suits you.

Bosch, Bosch, BOSCH.

Look at all the others then do the sensible thing and buy a Bosch.

I've tried the Hoover, Hotpoint, Candy (with that one I invited the engineer tho move in with me to save him travelling time) now I only buy Bosch.

Well if your in Uk or America then there is quite a few .

you can still buy great quality at a cheaper price. but if your willing to pay for a really expendsive one then the way to go is MIELE. they are the best quality in the world and the machine will last you 10years plus. with unbelievable range of programmes and features.

If you still want great quality but at a cheaper price then buy an LG we have one for 4 years and No complaints.

Any front loader is practically watr and energy efficient

whatever you do dont buy Ariston/Hotpoint/Indesit/Servis. They will break within the first year

I would buy an lg washer because they are much queiter for use in condos so it doesn't shake like h**l. Well i live in North America so our washers are like 50 times bigger than the ones in europe. but its very queiet. Lg also has load sensing so it tells you how much detergent and softener you have to use. I would recommend whirlpool but after the dealer saying that its not as reliable as lg. Lg uses direct drive there for making it more quet and there is no belts to change after a certain amount of years.
