New Year Eve ready to be kicked-off by the battering of Samantha Stosur at Brisbane – Tennis News
Former US Open Champion, Samantha Stosur, will be in action on the New Year's eve at the Pat Rafter Arena. She will compete in the Queensland best sporting event, the Brisbane International. She will look to take advantage of the
familiar stadium and home crowd support but the field is extremely difficult especially with the inclusion of the versatile squad featuring the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Angelique Kerber, Sara Errani, Petra Kvitova and Caroline
Wozniacki.
In relation to her New Year Eve’s contest, the ninth ranked Aussie said, “It’s always fun to play at home. I look forward to celebrating the end of 2012 with my fans and welcoming in 2013. I also get a chance to play in-front of
my family and friends which doesn’t happen that often.”
Stosur’s return to the tennis circuit will not be the only entertaining part of the New Year's Eve. A live band performance is also scheduled at 5:30 pm which will take place at the Tennis Central. The Tournament Director, Cameron
Pearson, was content with the preparations for the year-opening event and stated, “New Year’s Eve at the Brisbane International will be a fun night out for the whole family and a memorable way to mark the end of another year.”
He further added, “Stosur, an Australian favourite, is one of the world’s best and an exciting talent to watch play, so she is sure to put on a great show for her fans.” The tournament officials have promised a very entertaining
night for the viewers as well as visitors. There are arrangements for the giveaways of Suncorp Clubhouse where people can experience the photo booth.
Some of the lower ranked players who can make a big name at the Brisbane International, espacially Dominika Cibulkova, Roberta Vinci, Lucie Safarova, Varvara Lepchenko, Urszula Radwanska, Daniela Hantuchova, Sabine Lisicki, Sofia
Arvidsson and Jarmila Gajdosova.
Stosur is the only player who will look to carry the hopes of the local fans because her compatriot, Gajdosova can hardly tackle the big names especially with such a strong field where the Aussie number one is itself a very weak
contender for the trophy.
