Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso predicts a four way fight for the 2011 world championship. He is of the view that the Mercedes GP will also be playing very strongly in the upcoming season. This season has seen a very tough battle between the top three teams
including, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren.
Alonso also expressed a lot of optimism for his team’s performance for the upcoming season as he stated,
“The team were very disappointed with the missed opportunity but Ferrari's great strength is that does not sink into depression because of one mistake. On the contrary, it reacts to be even more determined the following year.”
Team Red Bull was quick to gain pace and momentum at the start of the season. Some of the early developments like the blown diffuser and f-duct gave an instant boost to the team and for the rest of the entire season it has evidently been the fastest on the
track. Its other strong competitor at the start of the season was only McLaren. Although the British squad did not possess an equally fast car, yet they were quick to get the maximum benefit from every little mistake of the Austrian team and kept gaining points.
After having a lulled mid season, Ferrari emerged in the tug with a loud roar. Although the 1-2 finish of the team at the German Grand Prix gave way to a lot of criticism and condemnation for team ordering, yet there was no stopping to the determined team.
At one after the other race the team driver, Fernando Alonso kept on bagging points. It was not very late when the Italian driver made his way to the top of the charts starting off from his initial fifth position. The developments of the team made them the
second fastest on the track, Red Bull being the fastest.
At the same time, Mercedes GP has had a very poor season. Despite the fact that the team bagged both the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship only a season back, under the title of Brawn GP, it was not able to do well right from the start of
the season. As the 2010 Formula One season began, the fanfare and hype of the team was immense.
The return of the biggest name in racing world, Michael Schumacher was being celebrated hugely. However, very soon the team as well as the driver’s fans were left disappointed by the poor performances of the seven-time world champion. Neither Mercedes GP
was able to produce a competitive car, nor was the driver able to get the best out of what he was handed.
However, the upcoming season is expected to be different for the historic team. All the teams on the grid as well as the fans of the legendry team expect to see a very strong season ahead for it.
After a few early races the team boss, Ross Brawn, realised that both the titles have already slipped off their hands. He halted major up gradations in their car and shifted all the attention and resources on the 2011’s car. This safely tells that their
next car is going to be far stronger and competitive than the current. Moreover, Schumacher is also very confident about his performance for next season. With the new Pirelli tyres he hopes to prove his potential once again on the track.
