  1. Amsterdam Billiards should be your first place to go.  It is the premier room in New York.  The Brunswick Crown IVs are only 4 years old and they just moved into a nicely renovated space only about 15 months ago.  My recommendation is to go during the day (before 6pm) because the evening leagues will force you onto a waiting list.  The room also features many of New York's best pool players.

Broadway Billiards is 24 hours and can attract quite a few gamblers but its seediness and lack of staff definitely put this in the "not for dating" catagory.  Bring a fly-swatter and enjoy the cheap rates.

Soho Billiards has recently undergone some renovations.  Definitely nicer than Broadway Billiards however, it's just as expensive as Amsterdam with inferior equipment.  Little wait-list and there's reason for it.

  2. Slate: 54 W. 21st Street, NY, NY - (212) 989-0096

    it's a nice place, it's also part lounge/club so it's a different atmosphere

    Soho Billiards: 298 Mulberry St # G, New York, NY - (212) 925-3753

one of the cheapest places in manhattan

    Broadway Billiards: 10 E 21st St, New York, NY - (212) 388-1582

    this is my personal favorite

it's a down and dirty pool hall, nothing fancy at all

the subway rocks the joint every once in a while

beers are cheap and the place occasionally smells of mildew

Fat Cat Billiards: 75 Christopher St, New York, NY - (212) 675-6056

i can't recommend this place for pool at all, the tables are not level and it gets insanely crowded cause of the happy hour folks... and if you're familiar with that area, the joint gets a bit too "trendy" if you know what i mean...

    Amsterdam Billiards:

this place used to be corner billiards, but since amsterdam moved here from the upper east side, the place isnt the same... too many kids, too expensive, i don't recommend going there unless they've got a tourney going on...

  3. Amsterdam Billiards is probably the best, on 11th St and 4th Ave.

Also check out Broadway Billiards at 10 E 21st St.
