New York City on New Years Eve?

I live in ct and we are planning on going to a show in times square on nye. The only problem is that my boyfriend doesnt get out of work until 5. We are about an hour train ride away and the show starts at 8. The only thing we are worried about is navigating times square that late at night. i always here about people waiting there ALL day. Will we still be able to get to the nokia theatre even if we arrive that late, or will it be too crowded to get through??

You will never make it.  Tell your BF to leave work at noon..

You should be there some time during the afternoon. The area tends to become crowded rather quickly and there may be a number of security check points you may have to go through. Hopefully all works out for you.
