Question:

New York DMV Driving Road Test?

I signed up for a course to get some driving lessons so I can get a license.

I failed the first road test they signed up for me.

I've decided to sign up for a road test myself. I got the code for the course from them, but the road test is in two days and apparently I need a MV-262 form?

I never got one from them and I don't know I'll be able to in time. Do I really need this form?

  1. Unless you are under 18years and did not complete the Certified Driver education course in school ( after which they give you the MV-285 certificate), you do not need an MV-262 form. An applicant 18years and above just needs the MV-278, ( issued after the 5- hour prelicensing course certificate).

Mv-262 form is meant to be signed by the parent or guardian of an applicant who is under 18yrs and does not have the MV-285 from high school.

MV 262 form serves to state that the applicant has practiced 20hrs of supervised driving and so is eligible for a junior license if successful on the road test .

If you do fall in this age category, just go online to the NY dmv  site and download and print the form, have your parent or guardian sign it then take it down to the driving school where you took your lessons and have them fill  out and sign their portion. I dont think that should be a problem since you paid them for the lessons they gave you initially. They owe you proof of having giving you the lessons.

    All the best
