New York Giants’ Ahmad Bradshaw limited in Wednesday’s practice – NFL News Update
New York Giants held its first training session for the Super Bowl XLVI matchup on Wednesday, February 01, 2012, and the surprise addition in the unit was the presence of running back, Ahmad Bradshaw.
Although he stayed limited during the practice, his presence underlined Giants’ determination and commitment for the big game.
Even Giants’ head coach, Tom Coughlin, did not expect to see Bradshaw, who has a cracked bone in his right foot and might have to undergo a surgery – the idea, which the player hates.
Bradshaw received a foot injury during a regular season game of the National Football League (NFL) and missed a few games.
Despite not being fully recovered, he returned to the line-up and gave his best shot.
Because of the pain he feels while walking or running, Bradshaw does not participate in the team’s practice sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays and shows up on the field on Fridays.
However, after resting for around a week this time he was available for training.
His teammates and coaches were also inspired to see him playing despite the damaged foot.
“The guy has an unbelievable threshold of pain,” running backs’ coach, Jerald Ingram, said of Bradshaw.
The coach added:
“I’ve had a few guys that were very resilient but that guy has played with broken bones, cracked this, cracked that. His game is football. That’s what he has been doing all his life. When he gets on the field, he is mean. He takes that pain.”
Running back, Brandon Jacobs, also draws inspiration from Bradshaw. He commented about his fellow running back that:
“I look up to him. He is an inspiration to me to see how he plays. Once his adrenaline is pumping, he feels no pain.”
Bradshaw had earlier asserted that he would play as long as he could without undergoing any surgery. He prefers resting over any other medical treatment.
Meanwhile, four more Giants’ players who were either sidelined or limited during the practice when the team was at home, also participated in the training and once again stayed limited.
They include lineback, Jacquian Williams (foot), defensive end, Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee), wide receiver, Hakeem Nicks (shoulder) and cornerback, Corey Webster.
The National Football Conference (NFC) champions, Giants, are going to take on American Football Conference (AFC) champions, New England Patriots, in the Super Bowl XLVI matchup on February 5, 2012.
The Giants’ players, who are limited during the practice sessions, are so far expected to play in the game on Sunday.
