New York Giants’ Ahmad Bradshaw misses practice, listed as probable against New England Patriots
As expected, New York Giants’ running back, Ahmad Bradshaw, sat out of team’s practice session on Friday, January 3, 2012. However, he is still expected to play against New England Patriots in the Super Bowl XLVI matchup on Sunday.
Bradshaw, who has a cracked bone in his foot, practised for two straight days on Wednesday and Thursday. He had earlier indicated that he might not be available for practice on Friday.
After receiving the foot injury in the regular season of the National Football League (NFL), Bradshaw missed a few games.
He took the field again despite being fully recovered and since then it is a part of his routine to practise only on Friday.
However, he did attended two consecutive training sessions on limited basis ahead of the big game and was certain that he would be fine during the game.
Giants’ coach, Tom Coughlin, informed that Bradshaw along with five other players was listed as probable for the game against Patriots.
He said:
“Ahmad has practised two days in a row, which is very unusual. Everyone wants to be a part of it at this point and time.
The coach added that:
“No one wants to be someone who is not able to participate or to be a part of this wonderful experience. We’ve had everyone practise two days in a row, and hopefully, thank God, it will be that way on Sunday.”
Bradshaw started nine out of 12 games in the regular season in which he had 659 yards on 171 attempts for nine touchdowns.
In the playoff games, he managed 200 yards on 46 attempts.
Bradshaw rested for around a week after the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game against San Francisco 49ers on January 22.
He trained lightly back at home and was available for two practises in Indianapolis.
Meanwhile, defensive end Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee) was also limited in the practice. He missed a few practice sessions at home and did not take part in any complete session in Indianapolis.
On the other hand, cornerback, Corey Webster (hamstring), wide receiver, Hakeem Nicks (shoulder), and linebacker Jacquian Williams (foot), who had missed earlier trainings participated in complete workout on Friday.
