New York Giants’ DE Justin Tuck hungry for more – NFL News
Defensive end, Justin Tuck, made his National Football League (NFL) debut in 2005 with the New York Giants and has not played for any other team since then. And there is no need of doing that, as Giants have given him what other teams could not have – two
Super Bowl rings.
In total, Giants have won four Super Bowl titles and Tuck was fortunate enough to be a member of two Super Bowl winning squads.
In the 2007 season, the Giants defeated the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl XLII. In the 2011 season, they again defeated the Patriots and this time won the Super Bowl XLVI.
Giants were awarded their Super Bowl XLVI rings this week and after receiving his second such ring, Tuck is hungry for more.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Tuck said:
“I think the second ring makes you that much hungrier. Because you get there the first time, you are in awe. You are like, ‘Oh God, this might not ever happen again.’ And then you win a second one and you are like, ‘Hey, maybe we can do something here.’”
Giants have never won two Super Bowl titles in a row and it is very rare in the league to see a team winning two consecutive titles.
That being said, one cannot say that it is impossible to win two straight titles as the recent example of Patriots is in front of us. The Pats won the Super Bowl title in the 2003 and 2004 season.
Interestingly, no player in the Giants organisation has won three Super Bowl rings and Tuck has a great opportunity to record history.
Not only Tuck, in fact a lot of members of the team were part of both recent Super Bowl winning squads and are on the opportunity of winning their third ring.
These players also include quarterback, Eli Manning, who received the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Super Bowl XLVI matchup.
He also thinks that Giants can win another Super Bowl. Manning said:
“I think we have great character on this team. I think we have guys who are committed to winning, to getting better. I think guys understand last year was a great success and understand we had to fight our tails off just to make the playoffs.”
