New York Giants DE Justin Tuck “moving forward” – NFL News
New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck has admitted that there was a time when he thought his professional carrier had reached a bleak phase where there was no way out and that he even contemplated retirement then.
However, the player is now refreshed with new hopes of moving forward and defending the team’s Super Bowl title in the 2012 season.
According to the New York Post, Tuck realised during the last season that he was not performing up to the mark and was also surrounded by some disturbing family matters.
However, Giants were fortunate enough to win the Super Bowl and when Tuck got a chance to relax and get off his mind from football he was able to clearly analyse his situation that enabled him to look forward rather than worrying about other matters. He
said:
“Honestly, just consulted a lot of my family and closest friends, and just realizing this is what I love to do, and I’m not ready to give it up regardless of the hardships. I think for a little while, like I said, I felt sorry for myself because of the fact
that I’m sitting here saying like, ‘Why is all this happening to me?’ I don’t think I was thinking clearly. After winning the Super Bowl, getting away from football for a while allowed me just to think clearly.”
Tuck has been playing for the Giants since the 2005 season and has not played for any other team in the league. He was the third-round pick of that year’s draft. In his seven-year career, Tuck has won two Pro Bowl nominations, two All Pro selections and
two Super Bowl rings.
These achievements might help him gain optimism as he brings his focus back on the game. According to Tuck, he did some soul searching after the last season and thought deeply about the problems he was facing. He admitted that there was a lot happening for
him that prevented him from focusing on game. However, that is not the case now and the player claims that he is over with all those issues. He said:
“Obviously, I’m back, and I just feel kind of refreshed mentally.”
