New York Giants David Diehl DUI charges: Team refrains from providing detailed comments – NFL News
The New York Giants have refrained from commenting on the situation of their offensive lineman David Diehl, who was arrested by the police on Sunday over DUI charges.
According to the statement released by the team management, Giants will not comment on the matter given that the matter has not been decided by the court yet.
Since it is a legal matter the Giants are not commenting on it but they do consider David as a good representative of the organisation.
The 31-year-old David has been playing with the Giants since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2003.
He was reportedly watching a soccer game between Croatia and the Republic of Ireland in a bar. After the game had ended, the player hit the road in his BMW and reportedly struck a number of vehicles parked along 35th Avenue at Queens.
The police later found him and he was unable to clear a breath test. He was arrested and had to spend the night behind the bars.
At the moment, he is released by the court, but his case will be heard on July 26.
According to the statement issued by the Giants, the management is closely following all the developments but it has not discussed the matter with the player yet.
The statement reads:
“Since it is an ongoing legal matter, we will refrain from comment at this time, although we will say that David has been an outstanding representative of this organization for the past 10 years, and nobody knows more than David does what is expected of
our players both on and off the field.”
On the other hand, while taking full responsibility for his actions, David himself has issued an apology to his family, fans and the entire Giants community for bringing bad publicity to the franchise.
In his statement, David said:
“I've worked hard during my career to set a positive example, and yesterday I fell far short of this standard. I apologize to my family, my fans, the New York Giants, and the NFL. I made a poor decision that I sincerely regret, and, as always, take full
responsibility for my actions."
