New York Giants' David Diehl optimistic about eventual return
After suffering two limiting injuries during his team’s 41-7 drubbing of the Seattle Seahawks this past weekend, New York Giants left tackle David Diehl is optimistic that he’ll only have to miss one game while recovering.

According to ESPNNewYork.com, the eighth-year player out of Illinois hopes to be back on the field for his team’s 21 November meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles. And, although he sustained injuries to both his hip and hamstring in Sunday’s contest with Seattle,
it’s apparent that Diehl is favouring one injury over the other.

“It’s my hamstring,” the offensive lineman said during his weekly appearance on 1050 ESPN’s McDonald and Tierney show. “I hurt my hamstring. I am just glad that it isn’t my hip because if you hurt your hip then that is surgery and stuff like that. It is muscular
and it will take a little time to heal up a little bit. My goal is to be back at Philadelphia next week.”

Even though a source close to the team has stated that neither of Diehl’s injuries is more significant than the other, the offensive tackle assumed that the hamstring would cause more of a problem in terms of hindering his return to the line-up. According to
ESPNNewYork.com, the lineman had initially informed 1050’s Brandon Tierney that he could potentially miss several weeks with a slight tear in his hamstring.

Diehl stated that the injury to both his hip and hamstring occurred during an extra-point attempt in the waning minutes of the game’s first half. “Got my leg trapped underneath when guys were pushing under me,” he said of the seemingly accidental incident.
“I got to do whatever I can to heal up as fast as possible.”

Nonetheless, with other notable offensive linemen Shaun O’Hara and William Beatty currently sidelined with injuries, Diehl hopes to recuperate as quickly as he can, eyeing the Philly game.
“I’m going to try to do my best to make sure I am back,” he said. “This is the first time I have been hurt. I have been able to fight through some things before. My goal is to try to come back for that [Eagles] game.”
