New York Giants’ Eli Manning drives admiration from New England Patriots
As it comes out the New York Giants quarterback, Eli Manning seems to drive support and admiration from many apart from his own team and supporters.
New England Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady has now become one of the latest admirers of Eli Manning. Brady had a lot to say about the New York Giants quarterback recently.
"He's a great quarterback. He does everything you're looking for as a quarterback. I've seen it first-hand, what he can do in the fourth quarter of these games." Brady said.
The admiration comes despite a week 9 loss that Brady and the Patriots suffered at the hands of the Giants this season. Manning and the Giants routed the Patriots 24-20 in the game which the Patriots themselves threw away by forfeiting four turnovers. And
three of those came at the hands of Brady.
However, that does not have Brady’s respect for Manning shrinking by any means.
"He's done an outstanding job brining his team back. He's a great leader. You always hear that coming out of New England, the guys really have a lot of respect for him and so do I.”
Brady did not forget how well Manning played when the Giants faced the San Francisco 49ers last weekend.
"You watch the San Francisco game and he was getting drilled and just stood in there and kept making the throws, trusting his protection and came through when they needed him," he said.
Brady termed Manning a “great competitor” and a “great quarterback” for the Giants.
Manning has led his team to the Super Bowl event for the second time this year after beating the 49ers last weekend.
The 31-year-old quarterback has 4,933 yards this season which is a record for the Giants franchise. He has also scored 29 touchdowns this season which has proved to be the best season in his eight-year long career with the Giants. Manning joined the Giants
back in 2004 and since then has proved to be an asset for the team.
Since 2005, Manning has been exceeding the 3,200 yards mark every year along with more than 20 touchdowns every season. And in the past three years he has gone on to exceed the 4,000 yards mark.
Brady continues to be pained by the 2008 Super Bowl defeat sustained at the hands of the Giants and says he still cannot watch the highlights of that game. Amidst that Manning has earned respect for himself from Brady and the Patriots.
One of the main achievements of Manning had also included beating the New York Jets this season.
That game had been much hyped up due to Jets’ coach Rex Ryan’s rhetoric about being the better side and winning the game.
A lot of intensity had been generated over the game then as a tense cold war prevailed between the two sides.
The Patriots face the Giants in the Super Bowl game this Sunday in Indianapolis. The past defeats to the Giants continue to nag Brady but Brady recently came out to say that he intends to learn from past mistakes and come out with a better per romance.
Brady intends to watch the past games over and over again to grasp a better understanding of the Giants team.
Last week, Brady made a promise to Patriots owner, Robert Kraft that he would come up with a better performance in the Super Bowl.
Though the Patriots have rebounded well under Brady from their last defeat to the Giants in Week 9 to go on winning ten straight games, Brady’s performance has seen a little decline which caused some concern in Patriots quarters.
