New York Giants Eli Manning talks about last two defeats – NFL News
The last two games have more or less ended the season for defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants, and they now find themselves in a very difficult position in which they cannot qualify for the postseason even if they win their final game of the season
this Sunday.
At 8-7 with one more game to play, the Giants’ win over Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 will not secure a playoff berth for them. If the Giants win, their chances will depend on outcome of other games to be played this weekend, especially the one between
the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins.
Before the recent two defeats, the Giants were still leading National Football Conference (NFC) East, while the Cowboys and Redskins were behind them. As per the recent situation, the Redskins have lead in the division, while the Giants and Cowboys are behind
Washington.
The Giants’ recent defeats have come against Atlanta Falcons (Week 15) and Baltimore Ravens (Week 16). The Falcons whitewashed the Giants, and the Ravens, too, dominated the defending Super Bowl champions on the field.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Giants quarterback Eli Manning said of the team’s last two defeats:
“You have to play your best football at the end of the season, especially for those in playoff contention, for playoff chances, you have to put yourself in the best possible position to be playing great football.”
The quarterback added:
“We haven’t done that. We haven’t put ourselves in a position to win these last two games. That’s just disappointing, that’s frustrating, you try to search for reasons. There are just too many either missed opportunities, or just bad plays, or we’re going
backwards.”
The performance from the offence in particular was worrisome for the Giants during the defeats, and if they do not improve in this department they might lose their game against the Eagles as well.
If happens, this will be the most disappointing end for the Giants. They do not want to finish the season on such a note and are keen to end their current two-game losing streak to finish the season on a positive note.
