New York Giants’ Jason Pierre Paul gets ready for Washington Redskins’ Robert Griffin III – NFL News
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre Paul (JPP) has warned Washington Redskins dynamic and versatile rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, the second overall pick of this year’s draft, not to come his way on the field when the two sides face each
other this Sunday.
RG3 has gained respect of his opponents and success in just a short span of six weeks. He has been incredible on the field and has been able to gear up the Redskins offence.
However, this week RG3 is going to face a tough Giants defence that restricted San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 to score only three points.
RG3, who rushes with the ball along with passing it nicely, has to be smart against Giants rather than being quick.
JPP has clearly warned the quarterback that he is not going to have an easy time on the field. The New York Daily News quoted the Giants defenseman as saying:
“We chase quarterbacks all the time. We turn and run to the ball, no matter what. He may get past us and zoom right past us, but trust me we’re right behind him. You’ve got to respect that, too. It’s not all about the speed. We’ve got guys, all 11 guys that
can run to the ball very quick.”
In this season, RG3 has completed a total of 113 passes of 161 attempts for 1,343 yards while scoring five touchdowns. The quarterback also has a few rushing touchdowns to his name.
Meanwhile, Giants defensive end Chris Canty has also hoped that his team will be able to carry the momentum from last game into this meeting and outclass the Redskins. He said:
“When we’ve got everybody in the fold, when we’ve got everybody ready to participate, it makes for something really, really special. I think you saw glimpses of what we can do this past Sunday and I think we’re just going to try to continue to improve.”
Giants are currently leading National Football Conference (NFC) East, while Redskins are placed at second spot. If Redskins defeat Giants, both teams will tie atop the division after Week 7 with 4-3 record each.
