New York Giants Justin Tryon: The arm is stronger than ever – NFL News
New York Giants’ defenseman, Justin Tryon, who suffered a fractured hand during the last National Football League (NFL) season, has said that he has fully recovered from the injury and that his arm is stronger than ever.
Tryon participated in organised team activities (OTAs) on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, for the first time after receiving the injury that ended the season for him. He was able to play on three games last year.
This time around, however, he is hoping to be hundred percent fit and healthy throughout the season.
Tryon has not trained since receiving the injury and OTAs will provide him a good opportunity to test his arm. According to the details present on the team’s official website, he is excited just to be back on the field.
He said:
“The arm is stronger than ever. It’s about 120 percent. It’s actually stronger. I’m actually just waiting to put it to the test on somebody…I’m just happy to be back on the field, happy to be back with the guys. I’m happy to be doing something.”
The Giants won the Super Bowl last year and as they prepare to defend the title in the upcoming season they have a lot of questions to answer.
Last year, it was their incredible recovery towards the end of the regular season that paved the way for their success, but they are hoping to be a dominant unit right from the start in the 2012 season.
During the free agency and draft, they have selected some players for their defensive squad and Tryon has also got competition now.
In order to earn playing time in the next season, Tryon has to prove that he is worthy of it. His performance in OTAs, minicamp in June, July’s training camp and preseason games will determine if he is going to get more playing time.
However, he is not bothered by the competition at the moment and just focusing on his return. He said:
“I’m just looking for everybody to be healthy and get the ball going. After that, then let’s compete. But right now, it doesn’t really matter where you start. You could be on the third, fourth, sixth or eighth team. Right now, I would like for everybody
to be healthy and then we can really start slugging it out.”
