New York Giants QB Eli Manning appreciates Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger were drafted in the same year and in the same round. The only difference was that Manning was drafted by Giants as the first overall pick, while Ben was drafted
as the 11th overall pick in the 2004 draft.
Both players have gone their separate ways after being drafted and have been precious assets to their respective teams. Manning and Roethlisberger have two Super Bowl wins each to their credit and have received a number of other honours.
Both quarterbacks will play against each other in Week 9 game this Sunday when defending Super Bowl champions Giants will host the Steelers.
Giants have been working hard to defend their title and although they are currently leading National Football Conference (NFC) East, they are not taking any game lightly.
Also, Giants are on a four-game winning streak, but they still cannot take Steelers lightly as one single flaw can allow Pittsburgh to get past the defending champions.
As the two sides and the two quarterbacks get ready to face each other, Manning has appreciated Steelers and Roethlisberger, saying that the quarterback makes good plays.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Manning said of Steelers and Roethlisberger:
“They’re a talented team and they’re always good. Great defence. Ben has done a great job making plays. They’ve been to three Super Bowls since we were drafted that year, so he’s a tremendous player.”
The Giants quarterback added:
“They have a good team and so we’ve got to make sure we are ready mentally to get ready for them because it’s not a team we play very often and we know they have good players. So we have to have a great week of preparation getting ready to play the game
and go in there and hopefully we can get a win versus a great team.”
At present, Ben is clearly ahead of Manning as far as competition between the two quarterbacks is concerned. With passer rating of 101.4, Ben is ranked fifth among the offensive leaders, while Eli is ranked 11th with 89.1 passer rating.
