New York Giants QB Eli Manning mourns defeat, hopes to be better against Philadelphia Eagles – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has mourned the team’s recent defeat against the Baltimore Ravens, but the quarterback has hoped to play better in Week 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles so as to stay alive in the playoff race.
The loss against Ravens has hurt the defending Super Bowl champions’ chances of qualifying for the playoffs this season, as they now have lost lead in National Football Conference (NFC) East. They are in a must-win situation now, and even if they beat the
Eagles, they will have to wait and see the outcome of Week 17 game between Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles that will determine the Giants’ chances in the season.
This situation would not have developed had the Giants won their Week 16 game against the Ravens. However, that was not easy as the Ravens played assertively in all departments, while the Giants kept on struggling especially on the offence.
Talking about losing the game against the Ravens, Manning said, via Giants’ website:
“This is disappointing. We knew we had to play our best football to win and get in the playoffs. We didn’t do that, and when that happens, teams in this league will embarrass you.”
Manning once again struggled to find his touch. He finished the game completing 14 of his 28 passes for 150 yards and scored a touchdown. The main point of concern for the Giants was that the offence was unable to maintain possession.
Manning has hoped to better his performance as well, but the quarterback and the entire offence have been unable to improve their performance during the last few weeks. Talking about his team’s slim playoff hopes, the Giants quarterback said:
“All we can do is go out and play better football. We have to go to Philadelphia. Hopefully, we can get a win, and if we make it into the playoffs, that would be great. But, whatever happens is what’s going to happen. We can only focus on us, and we just
want to play better football.”
Although the Eagles are already out of the playoff contention, they can hurt the Giants’ chances by defeating the defending champions.
