New York Giants QB Eli Manning not bothered by Amani Toomer’s analysis – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has said that he is not bothered by the analysis of his former teammate, Amani Toomer, who has now become a sport analyst.
Recently, Toomer said that he would prefer playing with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo rather than Manning and while citing the statistics of both quarterbacks, Toomer said that Romo was more productive.
This was surprising for many as Manning has won two Super Bowls wins to his credit, while Romo is yet to get even a shot at the National Football League (NFL) title.
However, Manning is not worried about what analysts say about him. Talking to the New York Post, the Giants quarterback said that he did not get upset after hearing Toomer’s remarks. He said:
“I don’t get upset about those things. Amani’s been a good pal of mine. I don’t think he was trying to be mean to me in any way or try to hurt my feelings.”
Manning added:
“That’s just the way things are now, with so many different talk radio shows and so many different things talking about football year-round, there’s only so much you can say. You can listen to every single one and get upset every time they say anything bad
about me or the Giants, if that got to me and got me upset or concerned we’d have some serious problems.’’
Romo has thrown fewer interceptions than Manning and has higher pass completion ratio than the two-time Super Bowl champion but for fans, only that player matters who secures victories for their team.
Judging by this trend, Manning is certainly the most favourite. Romo is still struggling to be more productive under pressure while he has also been criticised for his inability to win crucial games.
Romo and Manning are facing the same challenging as they prepare for the 2012 season. Both want to win the Super Bowl this year. Manning wants to defend his title, while Romo wants to end a long drought to take the Cowboys back to their glory days.
Their performance during the season will be a much better indicator for judging the two players. Giants and Cowboys are going to face each other in the first game of the 2012 season.
