New York Giants QB coach Sean Ryan backs Eli Manning’s idea of taking time off – NFL News
New York Giants quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan has backed quarterback Eli Manning’s idea of taking some time out, saying that since the Giants have a bye week ahead it is not going to hurt the team’s schedule.
Giants are currently on a two-game losing streak, while Manning’s performance during the last few games has been below par as he has struggled to get even a single touchdown.
Manning, who led the team to last season’s Super Bowl victory, started off this season well, but seems to have lost his rhythm.
In 10 games this season, Manning has completed a total of 223 passes of 364 attempts for 2,641 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns and throwing 11 interceptions.
Manning’s performance in the last three games has particularly brought him in the limelight as he has struggled badly in finding his receivers and reaching the end zone.
As the Giants get their bye, they are hoping to come out of it strong so as to retain their lead in National Football Conference (NFC) East. A lot of players are going to try different techniques to get their rhythm back and Manning thinks that going out
of town might help.
Ryan is of the view that the quarterback can get his form back after taking some time out. According to the details present on the team’s website, Ryan said of Manning’s idea:
“I think it’s got to be good because that’s the situation. It’s the bye and I don’t think it’s going to hurt. As much as he’ll get out of town and he’ll take a break, anybody that knows him and has been around him, he’ll think about things; what we’ve done
well and what we need to improve. But a little rest and a little time away will not be a bad thing.”
Ryan also said that he and Manning have developed good professional relationship during the last few months. The quarterbacks coach said of improving the performance on offence:
“It’s about us executing, working harder and being prepared to take on the next opponent and what challenges they bring.”
Meanwhile, Ryan also denied that Manning had a tired arm affecting his performance.
