New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw expects WR Hakeem Nicks to play against San Francisco 49ers
New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has said that he expects wide receiver Hakeem Nicks to play in Week 6 game against San Francisco 49ers.
Nicks has only played two games in the season so far. He participated in the season opener against Dallas Cowboys and faced Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
However, he received an injury during Week 2 game and aggravated his earlier foot injury that had limited his participation in offseason activities.
Giants are hoping for Nicks’ faster recovery, but that is yet to happen. Before every game, it looks like Nicks will make it, but Giants are very cautious in this matter and do not want to take any risk that can further aggravate the injury.
Nicks has missed games against Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns.
The team management has still not confirmed if Nicks will play against 49ers. Also, there has not been any information given about Nicks’ practice schedule of this week.
However, Bradshaw is hopeful that Nicks will be part of squad against 49ers. The running back said on ESPN New York 98.7 about Nicks:
"He’s tough. I think he will be here this week. He seemed to give me a hint that he would be."
Bradshaw asserted that Nicks is only out of the side because of extra caution. The Giants running back said:
"Hakeem will be back 100 percent when he does. He's just being careful and taking his time. He wants to come back and be that playmaker he's always been. He doesn’t want it to come back on him and he misses game in and game out. I think he is being [safe]
about it."
It is expected that Nicks’ status will be determined by head coach Tom Coughlin officially on Wednesday.
If Nicks makes to the squad, it will be a great boost to the Giants offence against 49ers, who have displayed remarkable potential on defence. Since 49ers have only conceded a total of three points in their last two games, Giants will need all the weapons
on their offence to penetrate 49ers’ sturdy defensive line and reach the end zone.
