New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw to start against Philadelphia Eagles – NFL News
New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who missed Week 3 game against Carolina Panthers owing to an injury, will start Week 4 game against Philadelphia Eagles, the player and Giants head coach Tom Coughlin have confirmed.
During Week 2 game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bradshaw received a neck injury that forced him out of the next game. However, he was fit and healthy when he practised this Wednesday and asserted that he would start against Eagles.
In Bradshaw’s absence, Andre Brown started for Giants against Panthers and his performance was impressive as he scored two touchdowns while gaining 113 yards.
Brown’s performance led many to believe that Giants might start with him in Week 4 as well, but since Bradshaw is back the latter is going to be the starter. However, Giants will divide playing time between these two players as far as running game is concerned.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Coughlin said:
“Well, at this point in time, it’ll be according to however we plan to use them. Naturally, we reserve the right (to go with) who has the hot hand. So many times, that’s been Ahmad that’s been in, and certainly that’s helped.”
In the season opener against Dallas Cowboys, Bradshaw covered 78 yards on 17 attempts and scored one touchdown. Against Tampa Bay, the running back could only manage 16 yards on five attempts before being sidelined due to the injury.
Week 4 game will be important for Giants and Eagles as they both are 2-1 in the same National Football Conference (NFC) East division. Coughlin realises the importance of the game and that is why he will rely on Bradshaw as starter because the running back
is experienced. Coughlin said of Eagles:
“Philadelphia is typically fifth in the league on offence, fifth in the league on defence.”
He added:
“For two weeks, led the league in offensive production, had some turnovers, which has been the reason that, I would imagine, the scoring’s not the way they would want it to be. However, very explosive football team, and we have our work cut out for us.”
The game will be played at Eagles’ home field.
