New York Giants TE Martellus Bennett expresses hatred for his former team Dallas Cowboys – NFL News
It has been just a few months since tight end Martellus Bennett ended his four-year association with the Dallas Cowboys after joining the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants this year in March, but the player seems to have lost all respect for
his former team.
As he reported to the Giants training camp on Thursday, July 26, 2012, Bennett vented his frustration out for the Cowboys and later expanded the horizon of his hatred, saying that he did not like any team in the National Football League (NFL).
According to ESPN, when Bennett was asked about playing against the Cowboys, the tight end replied:
"I just want to kick those guys' asses. That is what it is all about. I mean we are cool but we ain't that cool, know what I am saying? I kind of got some ill feelings towards them overall. It is a game, I kind of hate everybody, honestly, in the NFL."
He added:
“I have ill feelings toward everybody. It is not just Dallas. Pretty much anybody who doesn't play with us, I pretty much don't like 'em. I don't like a lot of people. I am kind of an (expletive) but it is cool.”
Let’s not forget that Bennett was not interested in playing for the Cowboys anymore because he was seeking an increased role with more playing time, which seemed impossible.
He joined the Giants hoping to get additional responsibilities as the defending champions were already short of players at the position, especially after their two players for the position had sustained injuries during the Super Bowl XLVI game back in February.
Giants have not yet confirmed that they will put Bennett at the starting tight end position, but the competition is certainly open for him and, unlike Dallas, he has a chance to get the starting job in the Big Apple.
Although Bennett’s furious remarks are not going to earn him the starting role, they can certainly help him in gaining support of the local fans. Being the rivals in the National Football Conference (NFC) East, the Cowboys and Giants have a long and exciting
history. They will add spice to the rivalry while facing each other in the season-opener in September.
