New York Giants Victor Cruz: Hakeem Nicks looks good – NFL News
Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks’ http://www.senore.com/New-York-Giants-Hakeem-Nicks-suffers-broken-foot,-likely-to-sit-out-three-months-NFL-News-a157055 came as a serious blow for New York Giants back in May, but the player has remained optimistic about his return to the game before the start of the 2012 regular season.
As expected, he has missed a few training activities and might not be able to attend training camp as well. However, he is gearing up for season-opener against Giants’ National Football Conference (NFC) East rivals, Dallas Cowboys.
He has been hoping to return as soon as possible and soon after undergoing the surgery to treat his injury, the receiver was also appreciated by Giants’ head coach Tom Coughlin for being optimistic.
According to Nicks’ teammates, Victor Cruz, the former is eyeing return before the start of the regular season.
Cruz told The Star-Ledger that he had met Nicks, who was looking good. Cruz said of Nicks:
“He looks good. He's walking again on his own so that's definitely a good sign. He told me he'll be ready and he told me he'll take training camp to continue rehabbing and continue to get his foot back right, but I definitely expect him to be ready by game
one."
Meanwhile, Cruz, who is entering last year of his present contract, said that he was not worried about the expiring contract.
He was of the view that worrying about the contract matter would distract him and could affect his performance badly. He said:
"It's going to be whatever my agents are working on with the organization. Whatever timing they feel is right. I'm going to go out there and take care of what my job is and that's to go out there and play football.”
Cruz, Nicks and Mario Manningham, who has now joined the San Francisco 49ers, were phenomenal during the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season and supported their quarterback Eli Manning well in winning the Super Bowl.
Now that Manningham is not in the squad, Giants’ dependence on Cruz and Nicks is going to increase further and they will ensure presence of both these players on the roster.
Be it the contract situation of Cruz or early recovery of Nicks, Giants want to resolve all the issues.
