New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks confident of playing against Dallas Cowboys – NFL News
New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who suffered a foot injury earlier in the offseason, is confident about facing the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener on September 05.
Nicks did not practise on Sunday, but there was no doubt on his mind about his participation in the season opener. When asked about his chances for the game, Nicks clearly stated:
"I'm playing. You don't have to ask me no questions. I'm playing."
Nicks underwent a surgery to treat his injury in May. He missed almost the entire preseason campaign and was introduced in the preseason finale against New England Patriots for a very brief period.
Even though Nicks did not practise on Sunday, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was hopeful that the player would be back to train with his teammates on Monday.
Earlier on Saturday, Coughlin maintained that Nicks would face slight difficulty while returning, but the coach was of the view that the player would deal with it successfully. According to the details present on the team’s website, Coughlin said:
“I think there’s going to be discomfort as anybody that works their way back from an injury that has to do with their feet or whatever that makes their living running is probably going to fight their way through some issues and I think he’s fully intent
on doing that.”
Nicks also admitted that there was some discomfort, but the player rejected the notion that he was bothered by it and that it would affect his participation in the game against Cowboys.
Nicks said:
"I'm not really worried about it limiting me at all. It ain't feeling great, it is what it is and it's time to play ball."
While mentioning that his foot could take a week or two or more to recover completely, the wide receiver also said that he could be hundred percent within a few days. This goes to show that Nicks does think that he will be bothered by his foot anymore. He
said:
“You never know. I'm just going to go out there and play ball."
Meanwhile, Giants rookie receiver Rueben Randle has also hoped that Nicks will be ready for the Cowboys and said that being a veteran Nicks does not need to train a lot before any game.
