New York Giants’ recent slump has jeopardised their playoff chances, and they are in a must-win situation as they prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16.
The Ravens, despite having better record than the Giants, are somewhat in a similar situation like Giants.
Ravens are leading American Football Conference (AFC) North with nine wins and five defeats. The number of wins could have been better, but for the Ravens’ recent downfall. The Ravens have lost three games in a row. The defeats came against Pittsburgh Steelers
(20-23), Washington Redskins (28-31 in overtime) and Denver Broncos (17-34).
As far as Giants are concerned, they have not lost many games in a row, but they have lost four of their last six games.
Week 16 game is going to be very crucial for both these teams as the outcome will affect both teams differently. Giants’ playoff hopes are in jeopardy, while the Ravens, who have already qualified for the postseason, can gain advantage in the postseason
by defeating the Giants.
Giants are well aware of the challenge they are going to face from the Ravens. According to the details present on the team’s website, Giants quarterback Eli Manning said of facing the Ravens:
“We’re well aware of what Baltimore is going through and they lost a few in a row. They’ve got a new offensive coordinator. They’re going through some circumstances as well and they’re going to be fired up. They’re going to have that kind of same attitude
and want to get back to playing well. I think they’ve secured their playoff spot if I’m not mistaken, but they want to get back to playing their style of football, what they expect of themselves and we’re expecting the same thing from ourselves.”
The Ravens will face Cincinnati Bengals after facing the Giants, while the Giants will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in their last game of the regular season.
Manning might be able to get some help from his elder brother, Peyton Manning, who represents the Denver Broncos. They Broncos have already qualified for the playoffs after winning AFC West title, and have recently defeated the Ravens.
