New York Giants arrive in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl XLVI game against New England Patriots
Carrying a hope of becoming the best team of the National Football League (NFL), New York Giants arrived in Indianapolis on Monday, January 30, 2012, to play the Super Bowl XLVI matchup against New England Patriots.
The Super Bowl game between the National Football Conference (NFC) champions, Giants, and American Football Conference (AFC), Patriots, will be played on February 5.
From the way the Giants walked out of the plane to the tone of their comments, everything bore testimony that the team is filled with confidence and the morale is at threshold.
“We wouldn't have boarded the plane if we didn't expect to win," Giants’ safety, Antrel Rolle said.
He went on:
"I think that is the bottom line. We have come here for one thing and one thing only, which is to win. We are expecting to win this game come Sunday.”
Giants has reached the Super Bowl first time after the 2007-2008 season in which the team won the title after defeating Patriots.
Now after three seasons, both these teams are once again set to battle for the same title.
Giants’ guard, Chris Snee, has also echoed the same sentiments as the rest of his teammates and said that the team would try to win the honour one more time.
"We were confident (in Super Bowl XLII), we're confident now. If that rubs people the wrong way, then so be it.”
Patriots, who arrived a day earlier, got defeated by Giants in the regular season game.
However, that was the last time the Pats were defeated in the season.
They won eight straight games in the regular season and extended the winning streak to 10 by winning two games in the playoffs.
On the contrary, Giants has remained on-and-off throughout the season, but their recent surge, which comprises of five straight victories against very competent teams of the league, has made this matchup as interesting as it could be.
Giants’ defensive captain, Justin Tuck, has clarified that Giants is not feeling like an underdog and said that the team that performed better on the big day would win.
He said:
“We didn’t feel like underdogs in ’07. I told you all earlier, we don’t care what the odds makers or the insiders or whatever they may be, say about these game lines.”
Giants practised for a few days at home and now the team is going to have two or three practice sessions in Indianapolis before the game.
