New York Giants can score more points than New England Patriots in second half of Super Bowl XLVI
If New York Giants score more points than New England Patriots in the Super Bowl XLVI game, no one should be surprised.
New England Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady, is the most prominent danger for Giants defence.
Brady, who will be playing in his fifth Super Bowl, must not forget the Super Bowl XLII game in which he was sacked plenty of times and was even forced to fumble the ball.
And the repetition of such performance is likely on the cards.
Entering the playoffs, no one expected Giants to reach this far because of their feeble defence.
However, the Giants have displayed a remarkable improvement in terms of their defence and outclassed Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs.
If the defence builds on the performance and applies pressure on Brady, the Pats can face difficulties.
Besides, the recent stats suggest that Giants will be able to score more points than Patriots in the second half, which could give them victory as well.
The Pats have played two games in the playoffs.
Against Denver Broncos, Patriots won by a margin of 35 points, only 10 of which were scored in the second half. Broncos only scored three points in the final half.
The same happened in the American Football Conference (AFC) championship final when Baltimore Ravens held Patriots to scoring only 10 points in the second half. Ravens also got the same number of points.
As for Giants, the case is different.
In the first playoff game against Atlanta Falcons, Giants got 17 points in the second half while the Falcons could not score even a single point.
Against Packers, Giants had two touchdowns and one field goal while Packers got 10 points.
Giants maintained the tradition against San Francisco 49ers in the National Football Conference (NFC) championship game, and scored 10 points as opposed to 49ers’ three in overtime.
So, it is clear that New England could not score more than 10 points in any of the playoff game, while Giants scored either 10 or more than that in the second half.
Besides, Giants defence has always supported the offence which has scored more points than the opponents.
On the other hand, Patriots’ defence could do that only against Broncos.
