New York Giants’ coach, Tom Coughlin, not worried about players’ tall claims – NFL News
New York Giants’ head coach, Tom Coughlin, has said that he is not worried about his players, who have claimed that the Giants are going to win the Super Bowl XLVI against New England Patriots.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, February 3, 2012, Coughlin said that the talks did not worry him and that these were just similar to what Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady, said about his team’s chances.
When the Patriots were back home preparing to travel to Indianapolis, Brady addressed a pep rally in which around 25,000 participants were present and hoped that even a bigger crowd would be present when the team returned after Super Bowl.
Brady said:
“We're going to give it our best and hopefully we have a lot more people at our party next weekend.”
His remarked implied that he expected Patriots to win.
The Giants also did the same.
Soon after arriving in Indianapolis, Giants’ safety, Antrel Rolle, said that the team would not have boarded the plane if it did not expect to win the Super Bowl XLVI.
The same sentiments were shared by a few other Giants’ players, who publicly talked about expecting a victory against Patriots.
However, coach Coughlin thinks that his players has just done what Brady did and said that it did not matter anything to him.
He said:
“I know that there are one or two quotes out there, but, to be honest with you, I don’t know that either one of them is any different than Tom Brady’s quotes.”
The coach further said that the real winner will be the one who would play well on the football field.
While predicting that both the teams have equal chance to win the title, he remarked that:
“I think it’s just a matter of our team has played good football against a great football team. We always focus our team on confidence enough to get there and confident enough to get back. That’s the way we look at it.”
The National Football Conference (NFC) champions, Giants, and American Football Conference (AFC) champions, Patriots, are going to face off in the Super Bowl XLVI matchup on Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
