New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin: Washington Redskins Robert Griffin III getting better – NFL News
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has appreciated Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3), saying that he is getting better.
RG3, the second overall pick of this year’s draft, is an exceptional talent; he is athletic, has great speed and passes and rushes equally well.
According to the details present on Giants’ website, Coughlin said of RG3:
“He’s getting better, no question. He’s got the numbers to prove it. He’s done extremely well with the passing game, the play-action passes. What you notice is the effectiveness with the completion percentage and the yardage that’s attained. It may not be
as many throws, but it’s more productive.”
Redskins and Giants are going to face each other in Week 13 game on Monday. Both National Football Conference (NFC) East opponents have already played one game this season.
In Week 7, the defending Super Bowl champions defeated the Redskins, who lost two more games following the defeat. However, the Redskins have recovered smartly and after their bye they have already won two games in a row; both victories have come against
NFC East opponents – Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
Redskins are desperate to take down another NFC East opponent and improve their standing in the division. They are currently tied with the Cowboys and still have very little playoff hopes.
Coughlin said of Redskins:
“Following our game with them, they lost a couple of tough games to Pittsburgh and to Carolina, and they bounced back and scored 69 points in the last two weeks, so obviously they do have the ability to score.”
In the last meeting between these two teams, RG3 finished with completing 20 of his 28 passes for 258 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also gained 89 yards while rushing on nine attempts.
The Redskins will have the home-field advantage against the Giants and the defending champions are certainly going to get tough time, especially when Griffin is performing so well.
RG3 has played 11 games this season. The rookie has completed a total of 205 passes of 304 attempts for 2,497 yards. He has scored 16 passing touchdowns while throwing only four interceptions. He has also scored six rushing touchdowns.
