New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell hopes to see improvement on defence – NFL News
New York Giants’ struggles on offence and defence are not hidden and especially their performance in the last few weeks has created a lot of troubles for them.
Giants’ recent defeat Cincinnati Bengals was their second in a row after they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers a week earlier.
Throughout the season, Giants’ defence has not been able to display good performances, but on a very few occasion.
This has made them unpredictable, something that will hurt their chances in the playoffs, if they qualify for it.
Giants have their bye week and everyone is desperately hoping to see improvement in the team’s overall performance once they return from the bye.
Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who has asserted that the defence lacks consistency, has hoped to see improvement in the next games. According to the details present on the team’s website, he said:
“We definitely can be a good defence. All the makings are there. We’re not consistent. We’ve shown at times that we can be a good defence, but we’re not a consistent defence. That’s what we’re striving for, to be a consistent defence. I think that if we
can obviously pull together, which we will, and be more consistent with what we do, that we can finish strong.”
Although Giants are leading National Football Conference (NFC) East, their playoff berth is not guaranteed, especially after last week’s results.
Giants lost their game in a humiliating manner. They were able to score only 13 points against Bengals, while allowing the opponents to score 31 points.
Giants’ only touchdown in the game came in the final quarter while the first three quarters were dominated by the Bengals. Fewell said of the team’s performance against Bengals:
“We didn’t have a great game up front. The ball came out quick; they did some things that kind of offset our pass-rush, but that’s no excuse. We expect our guys to get home.”
Giants have a few tough encounters after their bye and they must get themselves together and utilise the extra time in the best possible manner to ensure their entry in the postseason.
