New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell wants more from his team – NFL News
New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell thinks that during the last week defeat against Green Bay Packers, his team played relatively well. However, he wants more from his defence as his side prepares for future games.
In the 12th week of the National Football League current season, New York Giants surrendered to New Orleans Saints 24-49. Fewell was disappointed over the loss and said that it was a game that “you wanted to bury”.
Last week, Packers scored 38 points against Giants, and Fewell thinks that the defence played better that time.
“I thought we played with more energy,” he said on Thursday. “We played with greater purpose last week. We look for them to play like that every week.
“If we would have gotten the W and finished it, obviously we would have been pleased. But I think we proved to ourselves that we can play hard for 60 minutes,” Perry added.
Giants are now going to face Dallas Cowboys in the week 14 encounter. Cowboys are one game ahead of them, and Giants need to level that deficit if they want to keep the hopes for playoffs alive.
Giants were fired up against Packers, but unfortunately gave the game away in the final minute. Perry believes that his players will enter the field this Sunday carrying the same passion and momentum. He also said that the players
are aware of the importance of the game.
“This is a big, important game for us. I think the players know that. We know that as a coaching staff we’re in a position to do some things that we like to do. I think the passion and the fire will be there.”
On the other hand, Giants defensive captain Justin Tuck has said that the players are going to try as best as they can to prevent the Cowboys offense from progressing against Giants. He further said that his players will try to
build on the last week’s performance.
Meanwhile, safety Kenny Phillips did not take part in the practice session on Thursday due to a knee injury. Despite the injury and absence from the practice, Perry said, Phillips is not yet ruled out of the weekend’s game.
