New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin appreciates his team’s kickoff coverage – NFL News
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin thinks that kickoff coverage did a good job in Week 14 win against New Orleans Saints.
Coughlin was talking about the best thing during Sunday’s game. According to Coughlin, kickoff return was outstanding as it took them over the 48-yard line.
He said:
“So kickoff return was blocked well, the speed, the energy, the maneuverability. All those things were there.”
Talking about punt return by wide receiver Domenik Hixon, the head coach said:
“We had a 9.5-yard average on our punt returns with Domenik Hixon and that was a plus and that helped and we did a good job of pinning them back.”
According to Coughlin, after Week 13 defeat against the Washington Redskins, the Giants had to rectify their mistakes and perform well.
Coughlin said:
“We had to amend some of the errors that we had made the week before and didn’t come away with a win and so it was very important for us to play well.’’
He also mentioned their National Football Conference (NFC) East rivals, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, who are just a win behind the Giants.
If Giants lose any of their next three games and the other teams win their games then all three teams will tie for the first position in the division.
In this case, points against and points for will decide their positions in the division. All of them are trying harder and performing really well to secure a playoff berth.
Redskins and Cowboys have won seven and lost six games, while the Giants have won eight and lost five games in the season.
On Sunday, December 16, they are going to play their next game against the Atlanta Falcons, who have won 11 while losing only two, and are leading NFC South.
Talking about what they are planning for next game, Coughlin said:
“I think it just sharpens your focus and keeps your concentration at an extremely high level and hopefully we can build from the win.”
