New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin frustrated over loss against Dallas Cowboys – NFL News
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has expressed frustration over this team’s poor effort in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season opener against Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, September 05, saying the Giants are capable of playing better.
The defending Super Bowl champions were helpless during the game as the Cowboys dominated them, both on offence as well as defence, to avenge the defeats the Giants had handed them last season.
The Giants made a lot of fumbles during the game, while they also missed many opportunities on the offence that could have provided them some scoring moves.
The loss was even bitter as the Giants were playing the game on their home field. Coughlin was disappointed after the game and said of the team’s performance:
“Very, very frustrating. It hurts to come in and be playing at home and playing a game of this nature opening the season to play the way we played, and we certainly are capable of playing a lot better.”
Giants seem to be in euphoria after winning the 2011 season and Coughlin wants them to dedicate their entire attention to this present season only. This is the only way the Giants can defend their title, which is a very feat in the NFL.
Coughlin wants his players to learn the lesson from the defeat and move forward. In his message to the team, the head coach said:
“Take a bite out of humble pie is basically what it is. It brings you right back to earth. There won’t be any blowing smoke up their rear ends as far as that. Last year is last year and this year is this year. Every team is a new team, every year is a new
year, we have our work cut out for us.”
It is too early to comment on their prospects in the rest of the season, but if the Giants do not improve their performance and control basic errors they might not be able to win the title again, let alone qualify for the playoffs as the National Football
Conference (NFC) East is one of the most competitive divisions this year.
