New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin shares his views on Pittsburgh Steelers – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers have gradually started to find their rhythm and after a slow start to the season by losing two of their first three games. They have done well after that, winning three of their next four games.
Currently placed at second spot in American Football Conference (AFC) North, Steelers are on a two-game winning streak with the victories coming against Cincinnati Bengals (24-17) and Washington Redskins (27-12).
Steelers have improved on both offence and defence in the last few games and that is why they pose a serious threat to defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants, who are going to take on Steelers in Week 9 game.
As the Giants prepare to face Steelers, their head coach Tom Coughlin has shared his views on the strengths and weaknesses on his team and Steelers.
Coughlin, who had earlier urged his players to refrain from getting complacent, has appreciated Steelers’ strength on offence that is led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Roethlisberger is currently ranked among the top-five quarterbacks in the league this season with 101.4 passer rating and he can certainly create troubles for Giants’ defence.
Moreover, Steelers have an aggressive defensive unit that is not scared of hitting opponents. So, a physical matchup is on the cards.
According to the details present on Giants’ website, Coughlin said of his opponents:
“Roethlisberger has the ability to extend plays, which he’s done throughout his career. Much has been said about the way in which they’ve directed and changed their offence over there. He has been well protected, he has not been hit nearly as much, nor is
he forcing anything. He’s distributing the ball very well to any number of receivers.”
Coughlin noted that Steelers’ defence tends to exerts pressure on the opponents all the time. The Giants head coach said:
“Defensively, they’re powerful, they’re strong, and they’re an attack-mode team, just like they always have been. Multiple looks, the creation because of versatility of opportunities in terms of coverages, pressures, fire zones, all-out pressures on third
down and in the green zone.”
Both teams will face each other this Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
