New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin wants to finish strong – NFL News
There have been a number of games during which New York Giants have failed to finish strongly. The offence has struggled badly on a few occasions, failing to put up even a competitive game.
This, however, has to end if the defending Super Bowl champions want to qualify for the playoffs. With just two games left in the season, the Giants are in a must-win situation and wins can only come their way if they improve in all departments.
Giants are scheduled to play this weekend’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, who have already qualified for the playoffs, and although the Ravens are struggling recently, the Giants must not expect a weak competition.
Also, Giants, especially their quarterback Eli Manning, are renowned for playing well under pressure and we have seen a number of late comebacks leading to wins from the Giants, but, again, reliance on late outburst can hurt the team.
Giants have not been able to consistently perform well on offence this season and many times unable to finish strongly.
This, according to head coach Tom Coughlin, should change in the game against Ravens. According to the details present on Giants’ website, Coughlin said of the recipe for beating the Ravens:
“Take an all out effort. It will take superb execution, better execution than we saw, obviously, last week; a great effort. This team has had eight three-point or less games or fourth quarter games. It seems like every week. I expect it to be the same way.
We’re trying to lean real hard on our “finish” theme.”
Many teams have already secured their position in the postseason, and they are not much under pressure. However, the Giants do not have the liberty to relax. They were in the same situation last year as well. Coughlin said of the feelings of the players
when the week started:
“That’s how the week started. I walked into the meeting and I said, “We have two games to go. If we win both games, we’re in the playoffs.” We’ve been down this road before, backs to the wall; have to play our best, all of the above.”
