New York Giants list wide receiver Hakeem Nicks as doubtful against Philadelphia Eagles – NFL News
Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks’ hopes of playing Week 4 game against Philadelphia Eagles were seriously dented when New York Giants listed him as doubtful for the game on Friday, September 28, after the player was unable to attend the day’s practice session.
Nicks did not play Week 3 game against Carolina Panthers either owing to an injured ankle and the same injury has once again jeopardised his chances for another game.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Nicks could not practise on Friday because he had soreness on his foot.
Nicks missed most part of the offseason due to a foot injury and his prospects are once again being affected by the injury.
The receiver’s presence is very important for Giants as they face their National Football Conference (NFC) East divisional opponents this Sunday. Nicks’ presence in the offensive line presents quarterback Eli Manning more options and chances of generating
scoring drives.
Giants another star receiver Victor Cruz said of Nicks’ absence:
“It’s always disappointing (when Nicks is sidelined). You always want your counterpart in there with you playing in the trenches with you playing against a division foe.”
Cruz added:
“But it’s something that we have to deal with in this league. Guys get injured, guys get nicked up, we just have to understand we’ve been here before and guys have stepped up. So we’re going to need that again this upcoming week.”
The news regarding Nicks’ participation against Eagles comes as surprise to many, because it was previously expected that the wide receiver would be included in the final line-up.
Giants did not include Nicks in the squad against Panthers because they wanted to give him some rest, but now his status for Week 4 game has raised some serious concerns.
Also, Nicks said earlier this week that he “anticipates playing” against Eagles. He said:
“The body is feeling pretty good right about now. So get out there and practice this week and see how it goes.”
Since Nicks is listed as doubtful, anything can happen. He could also be included in the squad if the management considers him fit enough. However, many reports are suggesting that the Giants might not take any risk with him.
