New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning admits offensive woes, hopes to bounce back – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has admitted that the offence has not been able to give its best performance of late, but this is something that is not bothering him and he believes that the team will bounce back after their bye.
Speaking after Giants’ Week 10 defeat against Cincinnati Bengals, Manning said that he was disappointed about the outcome of the game, but maintained that it was not a worrisome sign for him.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Manning said when asked if he was worried about the defeat:
“No, I’m not worried.”
The Giants underwent a slump in the 2011 regular season as well. They managed late to come out of it and qualify for the playoffs, eventually winning the Super Bowl, but that does not justify their recent slump.
Still, Manning believes that Giants’ roster is filled with talented players who can turn things around for the team. The quarterback said:
“Every year we have gone through stretches where we didn’t play our best football and we were still able to bounce back. That’s what is going on right now. Offensively, we’re not playing our best, converting on third downs, or scoring in the red zone. We
haven’t made enough plays to keep the ball in our hands at all.”
Manning’s recent form has also been a cause of concern for many. Although he enjoys support of the team management and head coach Tom Coughlin, he knows his responsibilities and that he has to get better and lead the offence. He said:
“I have to start playing better personally and we need to as a group as well. We still have good players and a good scheme. We just have to put it together better.”
Meanwhile, Manning denied having a “tired arm” and said that he was doing fine. He also mentioned that the players would get the due rest in the bye and come out fresh in Week 12 to take on the opponents.
Manning has not been able to score any touchdown during the last few games and his performance will be monitored especially after the bye.
