New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning hopes for ‘great’ reaction after Week 15 loss – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning expects his team to give a ‘great’ reaction to Week 15 loss against the Atlanta Falcons, who whitewashed the defending champions to jeopardise their playoff chances.
At 8-6 with just two more games left in the regular season, Giants must win them so as to enter the playoffs as National Football Conference (NFC) East leaders.
Against Giants, Falcons got scoring moves in every quarter, while the Giants could not manage even a single scoring move. It does not mean that the Falcons had an outstanding defence that suffocated the Giants offence. In fact, the Giants did get a few opportunities
to score, but they failed.
It was Giants’ second loss in last three games and if this momentum keeps on going they might not be able reach the playoffs. However, Manning is hopeful that the team will bounce back. According to the details present on Giants’ website, Manning said:
“I think we’re going to react great. If you say at the beginning of the season that you have two games left and you've got to win both of them to be in the playoffs, I think you’d take it. This is an opportunity you ask for. These are circumstances you want
to be in. Could there be better circumstances? Yeah, of course. There can always be better, but there could be much worse.”
The quarterback added:
“We like our chances. We know what we need to do and it’s right in front of us and we've got to go out there and win this game this week.”
Manning’s performance was also under question during the game. In fact, he has not been able to match the heroics he displayed last season. This season has been average at best for the quarterback, who led the team to winning the National Football League
(NFL) title in the 2011 season.
Against Falcons, Manning completed 13 of 25 passes for 161 yards and threw two interceptions.
Giants will play their Week 16 game against Baltimore Ravens on December 23, while they will face the divisional opponent Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 on December 30.
