New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning hopes to see better performance from offence – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who had a pretty rough day on the field in Week 9 defeat against Pittsburgh Steelers, has asserted that the offence must play up to its potential to get victories consistently.
In view of the Giants’ recent performance, Manning said that the defence has been doing well, but the offence seems to be struggling. The quarterback also said that the offence comprises talented players, who are well capable of playing better. They, the
quarterback said, just need to push hard and play their best football.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Manning said of the team’s recent performance:
“We’re going to go through a stretch where we’re not playing our best football. Right now, our defence is playing well. Offensively, we’re not playing to our potential. So, we’ve got to look at things, make some adjustments and see what we need to fix up.
We’ve got good character guys on here. We know that we’ll get to work and we’ll do whatever it takes to get back to playing better football.”
Defending Super Bowl champions Giants are currently leading National Football Conference (NFC) East and fortunately for them all other playoff contenders from the division also lost their respective games in Week 9. This has helped the Giants, who have their
lead in the division secure.
However, they cannot retain the lead for so long if they do not get victories and that is why Manning has urged the offence to step up.
Manning, who is having a mediocre time on the field during the last few games, has acknowledged that he, too, needs to perform well to help the team’s cause of defending the title successfully.
The Giants quarterback also said that the players must feel their responsibility on their own and should not need any external factor that would urge them to play well. Manning said:
“It’s all about us, getting back to playing better football, converting on third downs, getting more opportunities to make plays and we’ll do that.”
Giants are 6-3 in NFC East and have advantage of three victories over the second position holders, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
