New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning looking forward to exciting competition – NFL News
A loss against National Football Conference (NFC) East opponents, Washington Redskins, has threatened New York Giants lead in the division and they must ensure winning at least three of their next four games, if not all, to seal a playoff berth.
Giants are still leading NFC East with seven wins and five defeats, but Redskins and Dallas Cowboys are present at 6-6 each just behind the defending champions. A win over the Redskins could have given them a solid advantage, but that could not happen.
Another sign of worry for the Giants is that their next four games are scheduled against very tough teams, some of which have already qualified for the playoffs. Giants are going to face New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia
Eagles.
Falcons are leading NFC South with 11 wins and only one defeat, while the Ravens are leading American Football Conference (AFC) North. Although Eagles and Saints have struggled to perform well this season, they can still surge late in the season to destroy
chances of other teams.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who thinks that there were some positives to be taken out of the Redskins game, is now looking forward to an exciting competition that would determine his team’s chances in the season.
After the recent defeat when Manning was asked about Giants’ standing in the division, the quarterback said, via Giants’ website:
“It is what it is. You can’t be down about it. You have to come in, learn from it and we still have a great opportunity ahead of us. We have some tough teams to face but that is what will make it exciting. These next four games will be big games. We have
to play better football and find a way to win games.”
That said, the quarterback regretted losing against the Redskins and, like his head coach Tom Coughlin, blamed penalties for the team’s poor performance. He said of the game:
“Obviously this was an important game. I thought we did some really good things. We played pretty sound football, just obviously set up too many field goals and had some costly penalties that hurt us.”
