New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning reflects on victory over Green Bay Packers – NFL News
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who led the offence impressively during Week 12 game against Green Bay Packers, has said that he never doubted his arm strength.
A few weeks ago, reports regarding Manning’s arm getting tired made the headlines, apparently because the player was unable to play well and struggling to get scoring drives.
The player had denied those reports at that time and has again said that his arm is doing fine. The Giants lost two straight games and entered their bye before facing the Packers.
Manning got the due rest after 10 weeks of action-packed football and returned to the field in full rhythm. Against Packers, he was 16 of 30 for 249 yards and three touchdowns. After the victory, he stated that the arm was doing fine.
The quarterback said, via Giants’ website:
“I never thought my arm was tired.  I never felt like it in the last weeks, but after a week off and coming back to practice it felt good.  It felt live, the ball seemed to be coming out with a little extra pop on it, so that’s always good.  I think naturally
after a week off with not throwing much, it definitely needed a little rest.”
The bye certainly helped the Giants getting in rhythm. They were impressive on the offence and performed equally well on the defence. Reflecting on the offence’s overall performance, Manning said:
“Offensively we just played a lot better.  Running the ball, getting in good situations, our third downs were a lot better, and staying on the field.”
In 11 games this season, Manning has completed a total of 239 passes of 394 attempts for 2,890 yards while scoring 15 touchdowns and throwing 11 interceptions.
His numbers are not that impressive as compared to the last season, but the quarterback has managed to keep the team on winning ways and that is what matters at this stage. Being the defending Super Bowl champions, Giants are already under pressure this
season. If they qualify for the postseason, which is possible, they will clear at least one obstacle and then can focus on the playoffs during which Manning’s performance, especially his accuracy, will matter a lot.
