New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning stresses on better team effort – NFL News
At this time of the year when teams are striving to earn a playoff spot, quarterbacks usually get a lot of attention.
The same is the case with New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who is gifted with an incredible trait of performing well under pressure. His team needs him desperately as the Giants are in a must-win situation if they want to qualify for the postseason.
The Giants faced the same scenario last season when they had to win their last two games to acquire a playoff berth. They did so effectively, and then went on to win the Super Bowl.
This time around, however, the scenario is different as far as counting on last year’s experience is concerned. The Giants faced competition from the Dallas Cowboys last season, but this year, the Cowboys and the Washington Redskins are competing for a playoff
spot along with the Giants.
Moreover, the defending champions have a different roster and new faces in the locker room that makes things much more different than last season.
Manning, who has acknowledged that the team is in a difficult situation, believes that the Giants can sail through these difficult waters if all the players play responsibly.
He is of the view that one man cannot alone take a team to its goals. In fact, the quarterback says, all players must combine well and display better game-play at their respective positions so as to get the desired outcome.
According to the details present on the Giants’ website, Manning said when asked about feeling pressure of taking the team into the playoffs:
“As the quarterback, you have the ball in your hands on every play. You’ve got to make good decisions, you’ve got to convert on third downs, and you’ve got to throw the ball well, get completions.”
He added:
“So, a lot of the things are going to be what I can do, what our teammates can do, it all comes around to everyone doing their own responsibility. Everybody’s got to play well and do their job. All you can do is understand the game plan, understand what
my responsibilities are, what my reads are and go out and make them.”
